Born from an inherited love for vintage...

In 2020, Dead Fox Vintage all started with a serious thrifting obsession and some unexpected downtime during the pandemic. These formed an out-of-control personal, vintage collection. Shelby’s love for yard sales, estate sales, and thrifting was inherited from her grandparents, who travel back and forth from Florida visiting all the spots yearly. In some ways, this store became a love letter to her grandparents and the collection she didn’t have room to keep.

Burlington was just supposed to be a stop along the way, but that dream of opening a shop snuck up faster than she planned. She’s three years in now with a store that’s Burlington’s best kept secret in the basement of College Street. What started as a weekend gig has grown—twice over—with the new shop in St. Johnsbury.

Meet the Owner

Shelby’s love for all things vintage started early, growing up in Waterford, Vermont. She spent countless weekends with her family, wandering through flea markets and estate sales, where she developed an eye for treasures that tell a story. With roots in a tight-knit community, Shelby learned the value of pieces that carry memories and embody a sense of nostalgia.

To her, every piece in Dead Fox Vintage is more than just an item—it’s a memory waiting to be cherished and a special piece waiting to be added to a personal collection. Shelby loves bringing a bit of that past into the present and believes that the warmth of vintage style makes any space feel like home.

After moving to Burlington Vermont in 2019, Shelby founded Dead Fox Vintage to share her passion for unique finds that blend old-world charm with a cozy, eclectic style. When she’s not thrifting, you’ll likely find Shelby grabbing a coffee from her friends Cari & Ian at Locally Social, hanging with her husband Connor and dogs Finn & Lana, or arranging flowers with her lifelong best friend, Olivia of Inch by Inch Permaculture.
